This cape from the 1870’s is called a Dolman cape because of its style. It is higher in back so that it can lay over a woman’s bustle. It is made of black wool trimmed with lace and beadwork. There are scattered holes throughout. If you wore a black under garment the holes would not be as noticed. The back shoulder is 12 inches across. The back length from neck to hem is 26 inches. The front length from neckline to hem is 34 inches. The bust is 30 inches. This garment was very restrictive of movement. This would be great for design, reenactment or pattern.
